Manfred is the author of the website
Travel with Manfred™.
He found his love for traveling at a young age of 15. Living in
Austria and longing for the warmer climate he first explored
southern Europe, particularly Italy and Spain.
In his very early 20ies he relocated to the U.S.A.,
spending most of his following 8 years in California, Portland and
Arizona. He used Los Angeles as a base to discover the most
interesting places of the 50 states.
After 8 years in the US his itching to change the continent started again. After a limited stay in Hong Kong he returned to Europe in 1996 making London his home. Since then he lived in places like Stockholm, Frankfurt and Madrid. In the last decade he thouroughly traveled Europe. A 9-month stay in Lima, Peru, lead to meeting his wife and settling in Spain. Today Manfred lives with his wife and 2 kids in Bilbao. Manfred's favorite destinations are exotic, warm, lower developed countries like Mexico. He prefers scenic nature and the outdoors to urban sprawl and city night life. Challenges tend to bring him fully to life. He is a former marathon runner and gets a kick out of adventures like white water rafting on the Zambesi River, rock climbing in the California Sierras, or crossing parts of Mexican deserts on foot. Manfred is a part-time writer and is featured in numerous on-line travel webpages.
